Learning Journey

Hi everyone, here you will be able to learn more about my Korean Learning Journey !

Please note that I’m also taking my last year of Masters degree in English and I am currently writing my thesis so I don’t always have the time to study Korean ;A;

October 2011 to April 2012 : Korean introduction starts : Korean certificate of Bordeaux University (level 1, 2 and 3 at the same time : 7hours of class /week – 24 weeks, I basically did passive learning during 24 weeks of school without giving in any homework or anything xD)

Serious and in depth studying starts here :

June 2012 to August 2012 : Catholic University of Korea : Korean level 1 (20 hours of class /week – 10 weeks)

September 2012- June 2013 : Self-study : Korean level 2 and 3 (SNU 한국어2 &3 // at least 4 hours of self study per day)

October 2012 to April 2013 : Korean certificate of Bordeaux Uni (level 3), Korean diploma (level 3) SNU 한국어 3 (6 hours of class per week – 24 weeks)

January 2013 : TOPIK self study starts : doing old tests average score 50/100

April 2013 : Discovered the “shadow speaking” technique and starts using it with TOPIK 듣기 exams (a bit late but don’t give up :D)

July-August 2013 : big study break due to personal reasons,

August 18th, 2013 : gets back to study! Still need to finish SNU 3 and start Ehwa 4!

September 2013 : It’ll be the start of my Korean class in new uni (as a language option), I have high expectations and hope that the pace will be faster…

September 2013-April 2014 : My classes at new uni were soooo disapointing, I didn’t learn anything much and didn’t practice Korean at all. Plus I didn’t have the time to study it at home because of the huge amount of homework and personnal work to do… So disapointed in me these 7 months… Didn’t even finish SNU 3 and hated Ehwa books. Bought SNU 4.

May-August 2014 : Spent 4 months of internship in Korea, I didn’t study much but my oral skills improved a lot, watched an entire drama on TV without subtitles, went to saturday classes at 숙대. Pretty much just did everyday oral practice… Amazing experience! Finished SNU 3!

September 2014-December 2015 : Was highly motivated to study more Korean, I want to finish SNU 4 by december… Wanted to study more with 연세 읽기 3 and 4… BUT ended up doing nothing due to school and personal reasons…

January 2016: Getting back into the game!!
